alarmed car
I think everyone hates car alarms.
I don't think anyone pays any attention to a car that is being alarming.
oh, and my car? it has an alarm.
it has an alarm that is so clever and Teutonic that the moth that wandered into my vehicle on the way home last night could set it off.
over and over and over and over and over and over...
the neighbours must have hated me. I went out on a bike ride, and returned 11 miles later to the unnervingly familiar sound of my car alarming. (I've set it off a couple of times, it's LOUD)
I ran into the house, grabbed the key fob and turned off the alarm.
Then I opened the garage, jumped into the car to put it away.
And out flew the moth.

MakerFaire 2008
1) take public transport, or get there very early or quite late
2) do not forget to take a real camera
ok. once we got there, it was cool. the map confounded me for some time, but eventually we were able to move around with ease.
lurking in the hidden Disney corner, we found all kinds of cool stuff:
a large, static Wall•E
and a smaller, dancing Wall•E
miniature model walkthrough of Disney•Pixar's
Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!
the prototype snake from
Disneyland's Indiana Jones Adventure
um. cupcakemobiles?

Napa Tour de Cure
I have one picture to share, but I'm not smart enough to upload it right now.
In the meantime, check out the Craigslist Rigshock Riders 100 mile ride pictures
and here's the one picture I took at the rest stop, about 15 miles into our 25 mile total...

our trip to Sugarloaf Ridge State Park...
this is a view from the "hillside trail" overlook. very pretty. we figured we'd walk around the bottom of the valley and then go visit the waterfall...
one of the best signs I've ever seen in a public park

pool of water, Point Reyes National Seashore
this really caught my eye, so I bounded across the thick, heavy grass to get a close up. as I took the first picture (not shown here), I felt my weight shift a little. I looked down to my right foot, and saw it underwater... I had stepped into the edge of the pool, but my waterproof hiking boots had kept my foot dry!
they came real handy in the sand, later, too...
SFMoMA, looking up
I love this museum so much. I also used the overhead walkway to judge how well I was able to conquer my fear of heights. the day I was able to walk across it without holding on to the handrail, and then stop and look down... that was when I knew I was ok with the whole being-5-stories-off-the-ground thing.
It would appear that there is currently a multi-colored glass tunnel installed up there right now...
